We recently won the "Who Dares" award in the competition held by the Government of Antioquia for creativity in implementing new technologies to solve issues in Colombian agriculture.

With the assistance of InSpire, which manufactures metal panels for harnessing and utilizing solar energy, we integrated alternative systems and transformed a necessity into a simple and effective solution. Thus, we created the first solar-powered dryer for herbs and spices without the expense and delicacy of conventional solar panels.

This dryer utilizes solar energy as a heat source, with biomass serving as an alternative source where only electric power is required for the fan.

Sunlight is directed onto the panel, which features openings through which air is drawn and heated within the panel by solar energy. This heated air is then directed through ducts to the heat exchanger, passing through 14 trays that can accommodate various types of herbs or spices.

In instances of low sunlight, the dryer can continue its process using natural gas or biomass.

The panel or roof is tiltable, allowing easy orientation towards the sun, and also serves as a protective covering for the product.

The trays receiving the product are made of stainless steel, a critical material for products intended for human consumption.

The system includes humidity measurement and sensors for continuous monitoring of the entire process.

The arrangement and quantity of trays enable selection of the appropriate dehydration level for each type of herb or spice, considering significant differences in moisture content. This results in a more refined, faster, and higher-quality product.

Drying for high-altitude specialty coffees with high honey content can now be processed from harvesting to milling with ZERO water consumption. This innovative system created by JM ESTRADA is revolutionary. In just two steps, you get a special coffee with great aroma and flavor, without polluting the water, air, or land of your farm.

There is no need for water at all to direct or wash the beans, nor large pipe systems or infrastructure. The freshly harvested cherry coffee is introduced directly into the feeder hopper of the dryer.

The freshly harvested cherry coffee is dehydrated, a process that removes the moisture from the beans while preserving greater flavor and all aromas. In this process, no ash, coal, or gas is burned, emissions are ZERO, no pollution. The dryer has a dehumidification system that injects hot air produced by high friction, evaporating the moisture and removing it once condensed without mechanical contamination to a container. This byproduct can be ideal for making energizing drinks and other beverages.

The drying system is carried out in 3 stages, meaning that at the end of the first drying stage, new cherry coffee can be reintroduced, thus making a continuous process. At the end of the third stage, we obtain a dry coffee bean with its husk and without honey.

We then pass the dried product to the whole cherry coffee huller. Here the process is quick and simple. The dry cherry coffee beans are introduced into the hopper of the huller, which feeds the hulling system in steps. The separation of the husk from the bean is carried out by the huller using a turbo feed of compressed air, obtaining a clean bean with great flavor and aroma, ready for packaging, sorting, and roasting.

The byproduct (the husk) comes out completely dry without honey, does not attract insects or pests, and can also be used for tea infusions or as fertilizer.

A unique system, 100% green technology from JM ESTRADA, where in just two steps, you go from the fruit to the hulled coffee, with zero water consumption, without burning ash, coal, or gas, and without obtaining residues or contaminants.

The coffee roaster features a PLC, an automatic roasting controller, with nine different cycles that provide perfect roasting. By simply selecting the desired cycle on the touchscreen, the machine prepares itself by activating the gas and preheating the roasting chamber according to the chosen cycle. Once ready, it automatically introduces the coffee from the feeding hopper and proceeds with its roasting. Upon completion, it directs the roasted coffee to the cooling basin where it is cooled, halting the roasting process, and then deposits it into the outlet for packaging.

The roaster is constructed from stainless steel and includes a receiving hopper, roasting chamber, controllers, solenoid valves, decontamination system, cooling chamber, hopper for receiving roasted coffee, PLC with touchscreen and tactile controls. It can process approximately 44.09 pounds per hour of coffee per cycle.
